The end of my first class

Today marks the last day of my first class at Full Sail. Over all I think it went very well. I learned a lot and am looking forward to learning even more in the classes ahead. This week we concentrated more on working with the new tools so we only had a project and a practicum to do so I spent most of my week obsessing over those.

This weeks project was a mechanical object. The idea was to take a photo of a mechanical object and make it look real.

Below is the photo of my Mechanical Object that I selected.

Below is my outline drawing of my Mechanical Object.

Below is my finished product of my Mechanical Object :)

My next class is Developmental Psychology and it will be starting January 3rd. I am looking forward to it that is for sure! Well, after a long 4 weeks of working full time and going to school, I am off to wrap some Christmas presents!! Merry Christmas and Happy New year!! Until next time...

End of week three, beginning of final week

Well it has been a busy few weeks, hence why I missed my post for week two. So now, I shall play catch up! This class has been concentrating on the pen tool and becoming more and more comfortable with how it works. We have also learned about shapes and gradients and mesh gradients.

Below is my project for week 2-Movie Poster
We were given a few different posters to select from and then we had to redraw it with the pen tool. Then we added color. We could only use 5 colors not including white.

Below is my iPod assignment, we were given a line drawing of the iPod and then we had to fill it with gradients, mesh gradients, and color to make it look real! Here is my twist on the old iPod.

Below is my project for week 3-Concert flyer
The first picture is the concept that I selected. I brought the concept to life in the second picture with my final product using gradients, color, shadows, blends and mesh gradients.

So far I have been pleased with this class and my grades. I received a B+ on my first project (self portrait) and an A on my second project (movie poster) I have not received my grade on the concert flyer as of yet but I will update you on that next week! This week I have to take mechanical object and bring it to life! See you next weekend with another update!

Week One of Design School

Hello Everyone!!

Well, I have officially finished my first week of Design School! Yay! I feel really good about this week and all that I have learned. I was expecting a week of torture and late nights ending in a very discouraged Emily but surprisingly enough I did not get overwhelmed and I finished the week feeling very encouraged. I started my week with a full day of videos, tutorials, and reading assignments on day one. I then took the next few days to experiment with project one and end up with a finished project that I am rather proud of. I was impressed that the weeks work really prepared me for my week one project. This week began my adventure into Adobe Illustrator with the pen tool. The pen tool allows you to draw and create curves and lines that then create shapes.

Below, is one of the tutorials leading up to my project.

Below, is my first project--
Week 1: Project 1: Self Portrait
Using a photo of me, the pen tool and a monochrome color scheme I created my Self Portrait.

Because Thanksgiving was this week, my work for week one is not actually due until Monday (Nov. 28) but everything for week two is due friday (Dec. 2) so it is going to be a busy week!! One week down, three more to go!! See you next week!!

Hello--

Well a few things have changed since the last time I posted. The application process went so well that I am actually starting school November 21st, 2011. I am unbelievably excited and scared all at the same time. I am looking forward to learning something new and fun but I am so scared of the financial half and the grades. I almost forgot that school involved grades until I was required to take an orientation course online for my school and at the end of it I was required to take a test and then in turn, received a grade. Weird. I understand that grades are part of school but this whole time I have just been looking forward to the education and doing the work, I didn't think about the fact that my work that reflected my education would be labeled. That, yep, that scares me. I am eager to learn but afraid to...well, fail. Imagine that. It is funny to me how everything life comes back full circle. I have found many times in my life that I was afraid of disappointing someone or failing. Most of my life I have been afraid of what other people will think and honestly, I am tired of it. I want to do my own thing and be my own person. I want to be the person I am and not be afraid of someone looking down on me. Here goes nothing...

The less you reveal, the more people can wonder.

It has been far too long since my last post. I apologize. October, is such an exciting time of year!! The holidays are right around the corner!! I am excited for this holiday season, my boyfriend and I are going to visit his parents in Delaware mid-December. I have never been to Delaware, however I have heard from many people that it isn't anything special. haha. Either way, it should be fun!! I also am hoping to get the chance to go and visit the Collins family :) I haven't seen them a long time and that makes my heart sad. It is going to be a wonderful holiday season.

I have decided to continue my education and receive another Bachelor of Science Degree. If the application and registration process goes well, I will begin my degree in Graphic Design at Full Sail University on January 3rd 2012. I will then receive my degree just before my 26th birthday. Wow. I cannot express how excited I am. I have never been more afraid and pumped about doing something in my life.

This is my inspiration for this chapter of my life:

Until Next Time-(sooner than last time!)

It has been far too long.

It has been way too long since my last post but I have been a busy little bee. I finally did it, I am now a college graduate! I am beginning to think that, was the easy part. The job search seems to be getting harder and harder as the weeks go on. I feel as though I might be running out of options. On the plus side, I am moving next week!! Out of Murfreesboro, to start my life as an adult. My new place is in Smyrna, TN.  It is a gated community. After 5 years, I will finally be on my own and roommate-less!!! yay! I cannot express how excited I am about this. I will make sure to post some pictures of my new home :) as soon as I get moved in. I am hoping to get my first pet soon too but, one baby step at a time :)
