DESIGN AND ART THEORY-Week 1 update

Hello class number 4 at Full Sail.  I hate you.  It is day 3 of class 4 and I am not happy with it.  The information is going in one ear and out the other.  I don't feel like I am learning anything.  I guess I thought this class would be more like my psychology class, reading and writing but this class is completely opposite.  I have 2 lessons to read, 3 chapters of tutorials, 2 two hour exercises, 1 quiz, 1 discussion, 1 critique and a project...for the first week.  Looks as though every week will be like this but we shall see! Here are my tutorials that I finished today.

Advanced Computer Graphics

Yesterday marked the end of my 4 weeks in Advanced Computer Graphics.  It has been a very interesting and eventful few weeks.  I had a class in photoshop when I was studying Interior Design but I learned a lot these past few weeks.  I definitely didn't learn photoshop in the graphic design sense.  I really enjoyed this class. Monday starts my fourth class at Full Sail, Design and Art Theory. I am really interested to see what this class will include.  Well, that is all for now but I will leave you with some pictures of my practicum and my project from this class...enjoy!

Practicum 4:

We had to take this texture...

overlay it on the flower to create...

a stone flower :)

We had to take a tree and get the outline and add color to it and then take the outline and darken it to create the above picture!

We had to take this leaf and color it green!

Ta-da!

(the before picture) We were require to hide the blue bug and copy the lady bug and reposition them across the picture.

AFTER!

we were given a brick wall picture and a flower picture and were required to put the pictures together to make it look painted on the wall...Ta-da!

Mixed Media Project:

We were assigned to recreate the picture below...

Here, is my creation :) ...

It has been a great 4 weeks. I am proud of myself. I had a difficult time figuring out this project but I am so proud of how it turned out :)

Advanced Computer Graphics

So apparently I have fallen off the face of the earth for the past 2 months.  I am back!! haha! Sorry for the delay. I really enjoyed my psychology class last month.  I learned a lot about myself and evaluated how I think and feel.  THIS month I am taking Advanced Computer Graphics. We are learning our way around Photoshop.  I learned Photoshop during my time at MTSU, however this class has been a great help.  I am learning things that I never even knew existed in Photoshop. Here is a little catch up on the past three weeks of my class.

Most of these I was provided the photos and I had to add effects, blend modes, and adjustments to the images to create what you see above. I am really enjoying photoshop this time around :)

Finally,

This is my final project.  It was assigned this week but is due next Friday.  We have to replicate the picture below.

This is the first half of my project:

I promise that I will update next week at the end of my class :) promise.

The end of my first class

Today marks the last day of my first class at Full Sail. Over all I think it went very well. I learned a lot and am looking forward to learning even more in the classes ahead. This week we concentrated more on working with the new tools so we only had a project and a practicum to do so I spent most of my week obsessing over those.

This weeks project was a mechanical object. The idea was to take a photo of a mechanical object and make it look real.

Below is the photo of my Mechanical Object that I selected.

Below is my outline drawing of my Mechanical Object.

Below is my finished product of my Mechanical Object :)

My next class is Developmental Psychology and it will be starting January 3rd. I am looking forward to it that is for sure! Well, after a long 4 weeks of working full time and going to school, I am off to wrap some Christmas presents!! Merry Christmas and Happy New year!! Until next time...

End of week three, beginning of final week

Well it has been a busy few weeks, hence why I missed my post for week two. So now, I shall play catch up! This class has been concentrating on the pen tool and becoming more and more comfortable with how it works. We have also learned about shapes and gradients and mesh gradients.

Below is my project for week 2-Movie Poster
We were given a few different posters to select from and then we had to redraw it with the pen tool. Then we added color. We could only use 5 colors not including white.

Below is my iPod assignment, we were given a line drawing of the iPod and then we had to fill it with gradients, mesh gradients, and color to make it look real! Here is my twist on the old iPod.

Below is my project for week 3-Concert flyer
The first picture is the concept that I selected. I brought the concept to life in the second picture with my final product using gradients, color, shadows, blends and mesh gradients.

So far I have been pleased with this class and my grades. I received a B+ on my first project (self portrait) and an A on my second project (movie poster) I have not received my grade on the concert flyer as of yet but I will update you on that next week! This week I have to take mechanical object and bring it to life! See you next weekend with another update!

Week One of Design School

Hello Everyone!!

Well, I have officially finished my first week of Design School! Yay! I feel really good about this week and all that I have learned. I was expecting a week of torture and late nights ending in a very discouraged Emily but surprisingly enough I did not get overwhelmed and I finished the week feeling very encouraged. I started my week with a full day of videos, tutorials, and reading assignments on day one. I then took the next few days to experiment with project one and end up with a finished project that I am rather proud of. I was impressed that the weeks work really prepared me for my week one project. This week began my adventure into Adobe Illustrator with the pen tool. The pen tool allows you to draw and create curves and lines that then create shapes.

Below, is one of the tutorials leading up to my project.

Below, is my first project--
Week 1: Project 1: Self Portrait
Using a photo of me, the pen tool and a monochrome color scheme I created my Self Portrait.

Because Thanksgiving was this week, my work for week one is not actually due until Monday (Nov. 28) but everything for week two is due friday (Dec. 2) so it is going to be a busy week!! One week down, three more to go!! See you next week!!
